Eternity

Home > Pastor's Blog > Eternity

This is a subject that one has had very much to say about, although it is only mentioned once in the Bible to my knowledge, yet the word is used ever so often in church settings and conversations relevant to Heaven or Hell.

Isaiah 57:15 God is spoken of as the one who inhabits eternity, or where there is no time set. For He said that God hath a Kingdom, an everlasting Kingdom to which there is no end. The word evermore is used quite a few times, so is the word everlasting and also the word eternal, this is where we get the word eternity, other then Isaiah 57:15

So I have not dealt much on the issue of where you and I will spend eternity. The Bible speaks of two places, Heaven or Hell. There is no in-between, you will either spend eternity in Heaven with Jesus, and the Holy Angels or in Hell with the devil and his fallen angels.

Someone may say, and have said, there is no such a place as Hell. I’m sorry, then Jesus must have made a mistake when He spoke of it so often, I don’t think so. Matthew 25:41 Hell is a place prepared for the devil and his angels. So the Bible says, so it is so. You believe in Heaven, you believe in Hell.

Someone may say, God is a good God, rightly so, but He will not send people in a place of everlasting torment. While that is true from one aspect, yet God hath given every man a choice. It depends on the choice you make, where you will spend eternity.

The Bible says, the wicked shall be turned into Hell and all nations that forget God. (Psalms 9:17) If one goes to Hell, it will be because he or she rejected the call of the spirit or did not accept the redemption plan that God provided when He gave His Son to redeem the world from sin.

The Bible says that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and accept the Blood for a covering for sin. The Bible says in Revelation that one day an Angel will step forth from Heaven and declare that time as we know it shall be no more, we will go into the never ending eternity. Time is not measured by hours, days, weeks, years, etc. Somebody may say, “I don’t understand it”, don’t try, accept Gods word, believe it and trust it. Whether you believe it or not won’t change it.

My friend, time is but vanity, Solomon said, spend our years as a tale that is told. A mans life is as the grass which springeth forth in the evening, it is gone. But eternity is never ending, it is very important to make the decision where it will be spent. In the presence of God or in the regions of the lost.

This is not the norm to talk or write on this because man does not want to hear this, but it is a part of Jesus’ teaching and right through the Bible, more so in the New Testament, because it deals more with the final end of things and the last dispensation, the dispensation of Grace. The last call to humanity.

The question is, where will you spend eternity ?
