(Jeremiah 8:22) Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there ? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

I have never studied Bible history very much. Every so often I look in a Bible dictionary to find out the significance of some things that is mention in Holy writing. Some time ago, while traveling across the Island of Newfoundland, the Holy Spirit placed within my spirit the scripture, Jeremiah 8:22. Is there no balm in Gilead.

I went to the trouble to find out about the balm in Gilead, and it tells us that there are certain trees there that carry a healing substance and these trees are worth twice their weight in silver, that to me speaks volumes.

I believe if ever there was a day when there is a very special need for healing it is this very day. Not next week, next month, next year, but today. There is sickness within the churches that needs healing, while there is physical sickness, yet there is a spiritual sickness, hurts, Brother against Brother and the list goes on. While people had access to these trees to obtain its healing element Jeremiah used it in Chapter 8.

Churches are trying every source today to find a cure for their spiritual ailments, but like the woman who spent all she had to be cured, the only cure was found in Jesus. A minister once said to me, Lester, we have tried everything but it hasn’t worked. Then why keep trying, try Jesus, He never fails. The Church should be a place of healing for body, soul and spirit. (Jeremiah 8:19) Is not the Lord in Zion? is not her king in her? Why provoke the Lord in going to other sources ?

The Lord has not changed, He is still at work. He will be still at work until He comes to bring His children home. There is a need for reconciliation, for restoration, so that the body of Christ can function as it should. The Bible says, if one member suffer, the whole body suffers. Some in the body of flesh, some in the spiritual body of Christ.

Can’t we find a place of reconciliation so that restoration can take place. The Bible says, 2nd Corinthians 5:19, God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself. Therefore He hath given us, that is the church, the spirit of reconciliation.

Wherefore He said, confess your faults one to the other and pray one for the other (why?) That we may be Healed.
