Who hath believed our Report (Part 2)
Home > Pastor's Blog > Who hath believed our Report (Part 2)Because of the fact I passed the outer court, I have been in the presence of the Lord. I will go in Isaiah 53 a little more because I felt I did not do justice to it in the last part. In verse 2, Isaiah said he shall grow up as a tender plant and as a root out of dry ground.
A tender plant is a plant that you can not rough handle, you have to be very careful how you treat it. You can not uproot it or disturb it. If you look at the word tender, quick to feel compassion or affection, etc. There is no mistake that is the truth and nothing but the truth. Jesus was exactly what Isaiah the prophet said he was. The prophet goes on to say in verse 3, He is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and appointed with grief.
No doubt he saw the grief, the sorrow, the disappointment that came mans way and we have some accounts in Holy writing. At the grave of Lazarus he wept. Luke 7:14 tells us that one day he was witness to the funeral of a young man, the only son of a widow woman, he was touched with compassion, reached out stopped the funeral and raised the widows son and gave him back to his mother. Oh, hallelujah oh what a saviour! He was despised, they spat upon Him, they smote Him. He was only recognized as the carpenter, Marys son or the son of Joseph. They did not believe He was the saviour, the redeemer yet Isaiah plainly describes Him. I do not wonder why he said who hath believed our report.
I quote Isaiah again, Isaiah 53:5: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Now the greater part of people who believe in the death and suffering of Jesus, can believe the first part of that scripture but has a problem with the last part. Now I could elaborate on all that verse but I will go to the last part. The Bible says with His stripes we are healed. 1st Peter 2:4 says by His stripes we were healed, it is not a matter of if it is Gods will, because it is His will because He said in John, I would that you prosper and be in health even as your soul.
You may ask the question, here especially in Newfoundland, why are we not seeing miracles, healing, etc.? I can tell you why. But the fact is Jesus bore the stripes on His back before he went to Calvary because he bore the pain of the forty stripes that was laid upon Him. Oh yes friend, he bore our sickness, just as sure has he bore our sins.
Do you mean to tell me that Jesus the Son of God took 40 lashes on His back for nothing? Oh no friend, he bore it all for you and me. I will put it simple, if someone do not get saved or born again, whatever term you may use, does that make the sacrifice that He made on Calvary void? No a thousand times no, just think about it.
